It’s no secret that I love sports. In fact, as I’m sure you have noticed, I write quite a few of my blogs about different teams, games, and events in sports. I can’t help it; sports are my other passion outside of radio.
Most of the year there are plenty of games to watch and that leaves me pretty content as I’m sure it does you. The problem is when the sports you follow are finished for the season, in my case the NHL, NBA, NFL, and CFL, there isn’t anywhere near as much to see. I was watching SportsCentre the other day and all they had were NASCAR, Soccer, and MLB highlights because they are the only sports currently running seasons. For fans of those sports that would have been a dream, but for me not so much. Where I don’t follow any of the 3 very well I found myself very uninterested.
It wasn’t too long after flipping the channel that I decided it was time to take on a summer sport, so naturally I picked baseball. The only problem I have now is that I don’t have a team to root for, which means I’m open to suggestions. I tweeted about it yesterday and received a few responses; all of which said “you should be a Yankees’ fan” or “definitely root for the Red Sox.” Both teams have a storied history and great players so I can see their point. However, I know there are plenty of other teams out there that deserve a new fan too so let the suggestions roll! I find it funny that no one suggested the Blue Jays yet... Canada’s only team.
