Students with learning disabilities not being well served by education system: report
A consultant's report says students with learning disabilities are not being well served by our province's education system. Paul Bennett has released a research paper commissioned by the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies. Bennett tells Astral News, between 2000 and 4000 New Brunswick students are struggling in the current system, and cannot be considered fully included...
Bennett -- in Fredericton for a conference on the subject -- says the province's recently announced inclusive education plan is positive, but he'd have preferred to see some money going toward pilot projects to develop special programs for children most in need of learning supports. He adds, New Brunswick is an "outlyer", given that other provinces have taken approaches more in line with what's he's recommending.
