Budget bill critics visit Ashfield's office

The office of the federal fisheries minister was targeted by protestors today. About two-dozen people upset about various impacts of Bill C-38 gathered outside Keith Ashfield's Fredericton office. Several groups, including CCNB Action, claim the budget bill will reverse progress on environmental protection laws. The Conservative government rejects the argument that the bill makes too many changes that have not been properly debated, and is using its majority to defeat hundreds of opposition amendments. Voting is not scheduled to end until this evening or early Friday morning.
