A drop-off in apartment construction has reversed the trend in Fredericton's overall housing start figures. Year-to-date housing starts through May had been up 42 per cent, but June's numbers have changed that to a 42 per cent decrease. Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says single-family-home construction has been fairly steady, but multi-unit starts were down 84 per cent in June compared to the same month last year; year-to-date starts for multi-units have dropped by 77 per cent.
