Leaked emails have drawn some unwanted attention to the provincial Liberal leadership race. The exchanges between leadership candidate Mike Murphy and MLA Chris Collins include unflattering comments about Brian Gallant (left), who is also seeking the leadership. Murphy suggests to Collins that some of the party elite who are backing Gallant have targeted Moncton East as the riding he'll try to represent should he win the leadership. That's the seat Collins holds and he replies that if that happens, he'll run as an independent in an effort to damage Gallant and the Liberal Party's chances. Gallant is taking the criticism in stride, noting he knew there would be some rough patches where things were said in the heat of battle. As for targeting Collins' riding, he points out all MLAs will be affected when the number of seats in the legislature is reduced to 49 from 55.
