Jail sentence for attempted-escapist
9/19/2012
The man who prompted an evacuation of the Justice Building in Fredericton last month has been sentenced to jail time. Shawn Sellick earlier pled guilty to trying to escape lawful custody. Sellick, 26, was awaiting a court appearance when, wearing leg shackles, he climbed into the ventilation duct of his holding cell in an attempt to get away. He soon realized there was nowhere to go, and returned to the cell. Sellick got one month in jail for that, but received a total sentence of 15 months; he was also found guilty of throwing a Molotov cocktail at another car while driving along a road, as well as breaching an undertaking.
