A Taymouth native will experiance the thrill of wearing the maple leaf. 18 year old Brett Young has been named to Canada's Junior softball team, which will compete in the World championships  in Argentina this November.

Fredericton finished the national triple-a midget baseball championships with a 3-and-3 record. The Swifty's Royals closed the tournament with a 3-0 win over P-E-I.

The Club Fred Graphics Royals needed to beat Moncton twice to claim the provincial triple-a pee wee title and they did just that, including a 10-0 victory in the sudden death final. The Royals will travel  to St-John's, Newfoundland next month for the Eastern Canadians.

And it's on to the playoffs in the senior baseball league. The Peterbilt D-Q Royals won the regular season pennant, despite a pair of losses in Charlottetown yesterday, 8-2 and 7-1.

The Clark Toyota Caps won their under-14 girls soccer contest, posting a 4-1 victory over Chaleur.

A couple scores in from the Fredericton Co-ed Softball League: the Cobras beat the Dirt Devils 15-7, and the Vagrantweb.ca Vagrants trimmed the Boiled Owls 7-6.
