Fredericton Police don't include non-convictions in background checks

The Fredericton Police Department says it does not disclose non-conviction records when it does background checks. The department is reacting to a warning from the Canadian Civil Liberties Association that hundreds of thousands of people are being hurt by information in those checks. The CCLA claims many police agencies disclose non-conviction records that can lead to problems at the border or the denial of employment, even though the person was never convicted of any crime.
