Keyboardist
David Bryan is best known as a founding member of pop-metal superstars
Bon Jovi. Born
David Rashbaum, the Sayreville, NJ, native switched to his middle name upon joining his friend
Jon Bon Jovi's new band in 1983. The group's career, of course, took off and was still going strong at the turn of the millennium. Meanwhile,
Bryan embarked on a solo side project in 1995.
On a Full Moon showcased his extensive training on acoustic piano and his fondness for classical music as well as rock; although
Bryan's blend of the two was clearly influenced by prog rock keyboardists like Keith Emerson and
Rick Wakeman, his music was less flashy, adding a mellow jazz flavor as well. While remaining a member of
Bon Jovi,
Bryan issued his second solo album,
Lunar Eclipse, in 2000; it followed in a similar musical vein.
