I was born and raised on Fredericton’s northside. I graduated from Fredericton High School in the late 1980’s (Go Black Kats!) and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree (English) from St. Thomas University (Go Tommies!). After that, I needed some skills to get a job! I went to NBCC Woodstock and took the now defunct Radio Journalism course. While I was still going to school I started working part-time at the old CIHI and KHJ. After graduation, I spent the summer working at a radio station in Charlottetown, PEI. I learned more in my eight weeks there than I did in my two years in Woodstock! And what a great place to work, on an island where the beach is never more than 20 minutes away! Once they shipped me back to the mainland I came back to work in Fredericton. In 1998, I moved to our sister stations in Truro, Nova Scotia. Three years later I came back to NB. After a year at a station in St. Stephen, I came back to the job I had left five years earlier at The FOX/CAPITAL FM/KHJ. In January of 2005, I decided I wasn’t busy enough with my reporting duties, so I pitched an idea for a feature weekend show. The front office liked the idea, and “That Sunday Show” was born, and I was named writer, host, and producer! I’ve interviewed thousands of people over my career, everyone from politicians to actors, authors, and musicians, to kindergarten kids. I’ve covered everything from tragic accidents and devastating fires, to elections and political scandals, to ribbon cuttings. Some of my favorite interviews have been with so-called “ordinary” people. But two recent highlights have including sitting down in the studio with Walter Gretzky and Claude Julien. The best part of this job is that no two days are ever the same. The hours sometime suck, but the end result and the people I meet along the way are worth it.
(Listen to That Sunday Show every Sunday morning at 8:30am on Capital FM)
